Embryo Transfers

Equine embryo transfer is the process where a mare is bred, and then flushed 7-8 days later in hopes of retrieving an embryo. If an embryo is flushed out, it is transferred to a recipient (surrogate) mare that was synchronized to the donor mare’s cycle. This is a great option for older mares and performance mares that are unable to take time off from showing or training. Embryo transfer also gives the possibility of having multiple offspring from a mare in one season.

At our clinic, embryo transfer is available from the donor mare into the selected recipient mare as well as Embryo Freezing. This is where we are able to harvest live embryos and freeze them for safe storage until the desired time to place them into a recipient mare.
